The Sucka Fruit Bowl underwent several tests before the final shape and design took place. The white bowl was laser cut as one flowing strip of acrylic. It was difficult to work with as it was difficult to shape and handle. The effect actually turned out quite nice as the tentacle overlapped each other. However, along with it being hard to handle, the bowl shape did not hole up as the weight of the acrylic was too heavy and when fruit was placed in it, it collapsed even more.
One continous tentacle
One tentacle joined in overlapping places
In the end, the design where the overlapping areas are joined was chosen for its strength.
