Making the bowl was addressed in a previous post that Cristina did, however it was difficult to do all five bowls and it took her the a week to sand the bowls. Below is an excerpt and commentaries from her process journal.
.Peeling off the plastic protection sheet
.Revealing the raw cut acrylic with a gloss finish. Edges are sharp, and there are traces of the laser cut lines on the edges.
.Needing to sand 5 bowls. I choose to do the sanding process at the same time. That is, doing all the 180 and 240 chamfer on the edges.
.Chamfering the edges on both sides. The whole sanding
process is undertaken to produce a finished looking product.
.When I was sanding I forgot to sand the sides to remove the laser marking and making it matt, however I do go back to do it.
.Sanding the surface with 240 and 320 grain. Comparing before and after.
.Wet Sanding with 600-grain sandpaper.
.Polishing the fruit bowl after wet sanding it (the bowl at the back), which is done by using swirl remover 2.0. Showing before (bowl in front) and after using this polish.
