Contrary to my attempts, there are no short cuts with sanding and the hours simply have to be put in, no matter what. I sanded all of the bowls in 180 grain sand paper before moving up to 240 with all of them. When they were at 240 I was able to jump straight up to 600 which produced desirable results.
The sanding process really came together with my extensive polishing using a tougher cut than last time. By using Kitten Cut and Polish no. 2 I was therefore able to produce a matte finish, as opposed to the more glossy finish from Object & Accessory.
